When we think of kitchen colour schemes, there are so many elements that spring to mind. The first may be the cabinetry – whether it’s a contemporary high gloss lacquered finish or traditional painted timber, there are so many shades and variations to choose from. Sleek, slab-style doors offer a seamless look for modern schemes with everything from graphite greys to the richness of a plum or aubergine tone. Shaker kitchens on the other hand provide a modern take on the classic in-frame design and can easily be updated with vibrant accessories and small appliances.

After the furniture, our thoughts turn to kitchen surfaces. Think walls, floors and worktops and it’s clear to see that our surfaces take up a lot of the kitchen design and therefore need careful consideration, not only for their practicality but also the overall impact they will have on the space.

Earthy elegance

Trend forecasters and influencers are experts in knowing what’s going to be big news in interiors way ahead of the game and this year there were two colours that really stood out. Pantone’s Colour of the Year 2025 is Mocha Mousse, a warming brown hue with richness at its heart and suggestions of chocolate and coffee.

There are plenty of Caesarstone surfaces you can pair with this earthy colour, such as the deep browns of 514 Emprada and 6338 Woodlands. Or, for a bold contrast, you might like the brilliant whites of 1141 Pure White or 2141 Snow. If you prefer a darker kitchen, we have a range of black worktops that you can use to create an enveloping and dramatic space, including our 5820 Darcrest worktop.

Alternatively, continue the warmth of Mocha Mousse onto your work surface with our porcelain worktop: 507 Marbannova. Its silky, warm white background plays host to a dynamic and translucent cloud of hushed golds, taupes and greys.

Hello yellow!

The second leading colour trend this year is True Joy from Dulux, an uplifting yellow that can fill a kitchen with optimism, light, zest and life. Whether you go for all-out joyful yellow on the walls or stick to accent pieces with curtains, cushions and accoutrements, its punchy positivity will make a big splash.

Yellow works beautifully contrasted with shades of grey, particularly the slate greys of 516 Locura and 220 Magnate, each with their own unique patterns. Or, pair it with 411 Concrita, exposed brick and stainless steel for a fresh take on an industrial vibe.

For a bright and airy kitchen, you might pair True Joy with 581 Lucillia; its warm white and caramel accents juxtaposed against thin icy veins would bring a sense of light, space and joy to any space.

Level thinking

Kitchen worktops play a major part in creating your chosen look and feel, whether it’s a traditional country kitchen vibe, an ultra-modern look or something comfortably in the middle. Consider what activities your kitchen plays host to, beyond the staples of prepping and cooking food. It may be that your space needs to be a relaxing area for chilling out, somewhere to entertain family and friends, or a place for working at home or helping your children with their homework.

What sort of ambience are you looking to create - something calming or invigorating? Worktops with wow factor or surfaces that seamlessly blend into their surroundings? Neutrals are still highly sought after, whether that’s whites, greys or beiges, and darker colours of course have their own appeal, be they blacks or browns. By selecting kitchen colours that you love, you’ll love your kitchen for years to come.
