If you envision a luxury kitchen, some of the elements that first spring to mind likely include high-spec appliances, stunning worktops, bespoke cabinetry and, through it all, careful attention to detail.
These things don’t necessarily have to cost the earth, but instead, by thinking carefully about how to get the most out of the practicalities of your space, you can achieve a luxury look in your kitchen. For example, combining modest cabinets that make the most of your space with a statement worktop that comes with a lifetime warranty, you can create something stunning, bespoke and reasonably priced.

What are the features of a luxury kitchen?
Good quality materials and how they’ve been used help form the bedrock of a luxury kitchen, which is why bespoke kitchens are often associated with luxury kitchens – tailor-made furniture makes the most of awkward corners and cubbies. This approach can be used to create storage solutions to suit every culinary need, from specialist spice drawers and knife racks to ceiling-height storage.
Luxury differs from person to person, but it generally encapsulates fine craftsmanship, quality materials and a pleasing colour palette that works well together and with the space. As well as this, there should be clever storage space, statement and functional lighting, room for preparing, cooking and hosting, and a smattering of tools, gadgets and appliances, all tied off with attentive finishes.
How to design a luxury kitchen
Make a statement with exquisite worktops
Nothing conveys luxury like the kitchen’s beating heart... its worktops. Not only are they the core of the space but also the core of the kitchen experience: worktops are one of the major tactile points in the kitchen as well as being a huge part of the visual story of the room. Here at Caesarstone, we have a beautifully crafted range of worktop surfaces, each made with everlasting beauty and durability.

Carefully crafted cabinetry
Cabinetry can have a big impact on the whole of your kitchen and having custom units can really set the tone for the room. Inside, your cabinets can be tailored to meet your storage needs while their doors can reflect the style and personality of the rest of the kitchen. Finish off your cabinetry with rich finishes and luxury handles or oversized door pulls.
Susannah and Victor Hemmings in Surrey combined an antique wood stained kitchen island (complete with 5000 London Grey to match the worktops) and custom cabinets that extend all the way to the ceiling to create this beautiful space that is perfect for cooking and entertaining.

Luxe lighting
Careful consideration for the lighting is just as important to your kitchen design as anything else; keeping the room well-lit can completely transform the space. Different types of lighting should be used in different areas of the kitchen, for example having a statement piece above the dining table or kitchen island can make these focal parts of the room, while having under-cabinet lights ensures there are no dark recesses.

Installing lights higher up on the walls helps create height, and therefore more space, within the room – and if you are blessed with a lot of natural lighting, make use of that and perhaps even make a feature of your windows.
Whether you choose a more unique, statement focal luminaire, or opt for a more decorative, subtle lamp, you want to create a vibrant space to inspire and uplift. Modern and stylish fittings are key accessories for those aiming for an air of affluence.
The details of flooring
Whilst it’s often an afterthought, we really shouldn’t forget the influence of flooring, particularly when you consider how much visual space it takes up within a kitchen’s whole. Adding stylish tiles or parquet patterning can really rejuvenate the base element of the space, or if you want to really emphasise your worktops for example, you might choose to go with muted colours on the floor and walls, making way for a statement worktop.
Outdoor kitchens
Luxury doesn’t have to stop at your back door! Connect your outdoor and indoor space by elongating the flooring and worktops from your kitchen into your garden or terrace for al fresco dining and entertaining. Match the patio tiles to your kitchen floor and continue the flow of your interior outside with a hard-wearing work surface, or do what Lydia Millen and Ali Gordon did and create a whole kitchen in your garden!
