A soft and inviting contemporary kitchen was the brief for Ashley Jay Ltd, for a recently completed project in Findon Village, with Caesarstone 4023 Topus Concrete quartz worktops a cornerstone of the design.
For the owners of this West Sussex home, the ambition was for a modern, sleek kitchen with functionality at its core, while also being a soft, warm and inviting space. As Sarah Lowrie, designer at Ashley Jay, explained:
“The client wanted a neutral coloured kitchen with warmth. They felt that the popular choices of grey and white were a little cold for them, but they wanted to keep the space modern and bright.”
Given this requirement, Sarah designed the space around the warm putty tones of Topus Concrete, from Caesarstone’s Metropolitan Collection of industrial inspired worktop designs.
“I felt that Caesarstone’s Topus Concrete worktop design would work so well for the clients because the rough concrete patina is modern and fresh”, said Sarah about the choice of surface. “The pinkish hue is much softer than other industrial grey concrete finishes available.”
The homeowners fell in love with the colour palette from the first meeting with Ashley Jay, and the subtle blush undertones of the kitchen worktops offered a contemporary aesthetic to the scheme, in line with the growing trend for pastels in interiors. This fresh, modern appeal was carried through the project with the choice of sleek, handless cabinetry. Nuanced under cabinet lighting builds on the bright and airy ambience.
As usability of the kitchen was key for the clients, Ashley Jay’s layout comprises of a peninsular design, with increased work and additional storage for the homeowners, whilst creating space for the clients’ dining table. The design was finished with bespoke details including a glazed worktop-mounted display unit, internal corner drawers and an extracting Bora hob for the ultimate functionality.
