Caesarstone’s 5131 Calacatta Nuvo worktops chosen for a modern, monochrome kitchen.
When a young professional couple based in Central London approached The Main Company to redesign the kitchen in their two-bedroom flat, they had a clear vision in mind. They wanted a contemporary and timeless space with the perfect mix of style, practicality, and a strong connection to its urban surroundings – ideal for everyday living and entertaining. Faced with limited space and resulting storage concerns from the owners, the task was therefore to create a personalised interior that maximised every inch. The design maintains an uncluttered, open feel and allows scenic views of the Thames to remain centre-stage. Caesarstone’s 5131 Calacatta Nuvo, with its soft and pale tones, provided the perfect neutral backdrop for this new, expanded kitchen. The floor plan was meticulously designed to optimise flow and functionality, without compromising the views in the process. The Main Company introduced an open-plan layout by removing an internal wall between the kitchen and living space. Then, they installed a single wall kitchen with a spacious, multifunctional island. The latter houses a sleek Bora induction hob and exhaust system, which is a real testament to modern innovation. From culinary endeavours to dining and socialising, the island, topped with Calacatta Nuvo, forms the heart of the kitchen.
The owners opted for the light, airy Calacatta Nuvo design to offset the dark cabinetry painted in the captivating shade “Lamp Black 228” from Little Greene, and accessorised with minimalistic dark smoked bronze handles from Buster + Punch. The marble-inspired countertop creates a visually captivating balance that plays with light and shadow – helping to make the space feel bigger.
Moreover, the opulent, creamy base with subtle grey veining is an ode to the flowing Thames. This adds a personal touch to the space and beautifully highlights how Caesarstone’s designs embody their reverence for the natural world. The in-house design team work on surface designs years in advance of release, taking inspiration from the natural world to avoid temporary trends and instead strive to create timeless designs & sustainable surfaces that will be loved for generations.
Furthermore, Caesarstone surfaces are incredibly easy to look after and maintain. Resistant to stains, scratches, and heat, they are much more durable than natural stone, making them the perfect choice for busy spaces, whether a multi-functional showroom, a family home, or a contemporary, industrial apartment.
