Caesarstone 6338 Woodlands worktops feature in a stunning home bar set in a rustic barn

The Bar in the Barn designed by Ruth Gray at Planet Furniture was created for a family looking to celebrate the old brick and timber barn on their grounds. Embracing how the pandemic ushered in a new era of at-home entertaining, the clients asked Planet Furniture to create the ultimate backdrop for gatherings with their family and friends.

The result is a decadent and inviting home bar featuring Caesarstone 6338 Woodlands worktops – a sumptuous dark-chocolate based surface traversed by gracefully bold, earthy veining. The space’s complementary material palette features cabinetry painted in Farrow & Ball’s Off-Black, exposed brick walls, and light oak beams, striking the perfect balance between rustic comfort and clean lines.

Designed in a U-shape, the bar provides abundant, dedicated space for bottles and the clients’ favourite glassware to live. Below the Caesarstone worktops, the space is filled with cabinetry and under-counter drinks fridges, whilst open shelving sits above, allowing for the continued exposure of the brick wall. Translucent slate panels awash with gold and beige-toned veining are illuminated with light boxes and paired with brass trim on the cabinet fronts to create a play between high-shine elegance and the scheme’s muted, natural textures.

When it came to choosing the surfaces, designer Ruth Gray explained: “We chose Caesarstone’s ‘Woodlands’ design as the deep brown base provides a real sense of depth and softness which prevented the whole project from looking too stark. We loved that the pale beige veins tied in with the space’s original light oak beams, the brass handles, and the illuminated slate panels within the bar.” She continued, “Caesarstone has a great range of surface options, and the London Enfield showroom is perfect for our clients to view all the slabs on a large scale, helping them to select the best material for their dream project.”

Natural stone, such as marble, is soft and highly susceptible to staining, especially upon encountering bar classics such as lemon and red wine. Caesarstone surfaces, on the other hand, are extremely durable, non-porous, stain and scratch resistant, and require very little maintenance. Resilient worktops are essential in a high-traffic area, such as this, that is bound to suffer spills.

Three black Caple wine coolers, a black Blanco Silgranit Undermount sink, and a black Quooker instant hot water tap blend in harmoniously with the sleek cabinetry. Three teardrop-shaped pendant lights hang above the bar from the ultra-high ceilings, illuminating the Caesarstone 6338 Woodlands surface. The end result is a warm, welcoming bar space with a timeless sense of country style, where the clients and their guests can spend endless hours over their favourite tipples.
