For a  professional couple and their young daughter, the kitchen needed to deliver on all fronts – serving as a practical, welcoming space for cooking and gathering, with a contemporary look that would stand the test of time. ![caesarstone-piqu-topus-concrete-cost-preview](https://blog.caesarstone.co.uk/hubfs/caesarstone-piqu-topus-concrete-cost-preview.webp) APPROX. [Get a quote ](https://info.caesarstone.co.uk/get-quote-recommended-fabricator) The couple turned to Adrian Graves, owner, and designer at Piqu, to bring their vision to life. One of the first decisions? [The kitchen worktops](https://info.caesarstone.co.uk/kitchen-worktops). Caesarstone’s [4023 Topus Concrete](https://www.caesarstone.co.uk/catalogue/4023-topus-concrete-quartz-worktop/) was chosen early in the process for its understated hue, subtle movement, and beautifully textured finish, setting the tone for the rest of the scheme. ![Caesarstone Topus Concrete kitchen worktops in a contemporary family home](https://blog.caesarstone.co.uk/hs-fs/hubfs/caesarstone-piqu-topus-concrete-02.webp?width=1440&height=960&name=caesarstone-piqu-topus-concrete-02.webp) “The surface was absolutely key to the project,” explains Graves. “Caesarstone's Topus Concrete has this quiet sophistication. The warm greige tone and subtle, textural movement bring a real sense of depth and cohesion to the design. It’s incredibly versatile and elevates the whole space without overwhelming it.” Though the new extension provided a generous footprint, it came with structural limitations. Plumbing and electrics had already been installed prior to the kitchen design phase, dictating key elements of the layout. The space also needed to accommodate a large island – over 1.2 metres wide – while ensuring a clean flow between the kitchen, dining and living zones. ![caesarstone-piqu-topus-concrete-03](https://blog.caesarstone.co.uk/hs-fs/hubfs/caesarstone-piqu-topus-concrete-03.webp?width=1440&height=960&name=caesarstone-piqu-topus-concrete-03.webp) With its concrete-inspired finish and warm greige colour, Topus Concrete helped maintain that sense of cohesion. It acts as a grounding element across the central island and surrounding cabinetry – complementing the soft modern tones of Leicht’s furniture and providing a tonal backdrop to premium appliances from Siemens and Fisher & Paykel. A Quooker tap adds to the kitchen’s streamlined functionality. Topus Concrete also elevates the space from a practical perspective. Its non-porous, scratch and stain-resistant qualities make it ideal for a busy household that cooks and entertains often. The surface handles everything from food preparation to family breakfasts and evening hosting with ease – always maintaining its integrity and effortless beauty. ![Close up of Caesarstone Topus Concrete kitchen worktop and backsplash](https://blog.caesarstone.co.uk/hs-fs/hubfs/caesarstone-piqu-topus-concrete-04.webp?width=1440&height=960&name=caesarstone-piqu-topus-concrete-04.webp) “Caesarstone is our go-to for a reason,” says Graves. “Their quality is unmatched, and the design range is so well considered. With Topus Concrete, we had total confidence – both in how it would look and how it would perform.” The result is a kitchen that feels calm, cohesive, and built to last – where every element, from the layout to the material palette, supports a lifestyle centred around food, family, and connection. ![caesarstone-piqu-topus-concrete-05](https://blog.caesarstone.co.uk/hs-fs/hubfs/caesarstone-piqu-topus-concrete-05.webp?width=1440&height=960&name=caesarstone-piqu-topus-concrete-05.webp) Jonathan Stanley, Caesarstone’s VP of Marketing and Customer Service for the UK and ROI adds: “Choosing Caesarstone ensures not only a beautiful, high-performance worktop but also peace of mind. Our surfaces are built to last, offering exceptional durability, scratch and stain resistance, and easy maintenance.
