Caesarstone 4043 Primordia worktops shine in a relaxed, beachside holiday home

This soothing new holiday home sits right on the beachfront at Camber Sands, East Sussex, offering sweeping views of the sea and a relaxed, coastal lifestyle. Designed as a retreat for a Manchester-based family and their extended network of friends, the house was built from scratch with shared moments in mind – long beach days, evening drinks and slow summer breakfasts. Caesarstone’s 4043 Primordia was chosen as the primary surface throughout the kitchen, helping to tie the interior scheme to the natural beauty of its surroundings.Coastal kitchen featuring Caesarstone Primordia worktops and kitchen islandThe home was designed by RX Architects with a soft, coastal aesthetic that plays into the textures and tones of its unique location. When it came to the kitchen, they turned to Portrait Kitchens to design a space that was functional, beautiful, and social. The family’s brief called for an open-plan area that could host meals, drinks, and downtime with ease – with plenty of worktop space, comfortable seating, and ample storage for everything from beachside snacks to evening wine.

Primordia was selected for the work surfaces and brought an immediate sense of cohesion to the space. Its soft grey base is flecked with organic tones that echo the surrounding landscape - from shingle underfoot to windswept dune grasses. The texture is raw yet refined, with a tactile finish that makes it an inviting surface to use every day. Portrait Kitchens paired it with cabinetry in warm wood veneers and neutral tones, letting the surface ground the space and define its character.

The dining table and built-in window seat complete the layout, making it easy to move from one part of the day to the next. The kitchen had to be flexible - working just as well for morning coffees as it does for dinner with eight – and every material chosen had to deliver both longevity and visual harmony with the natural light and sandy views just beyond the glass.

As a high-traffic holiday home likely to see a mix of guests and family members across the seasons, durability was non-negotiable. Caesarstone’s robust qualities, heat resistance, stain resistance, and easy cleaning, made it the ideal material for a kitchen expected to keep pace with real life. With no need for sealing and its ease of maintenance, the surface was an ideal choice – and Caesarstone’s lifetime warranty was an added bonus for the client.Open-plan kitchen-diner with Caesarstone Primordia worktop surfacesMitchell Burton, Founder of Portrait Kitchens, states, “We love the quality of Caesarstone’s materials. Their durability made them the perfect choice for a busy holiday home that could see heavy use from a range of different people. Primordia really stood out to us for its look and feel – it’s unlike anything else on the market and complements the beachside location beautifully.”

The project was finished with a carefully considered selection of appliances and fittings, including a Quooker boiling water tap, an 1810 sink, and Miele ovens. The Miele MasterCool refrigeration suite delivers on both function and form, giving the kitchen the performance of a high-spec family kitchen while maintaining the design's minimal, elegant lines.

The result is a space that feels calm, connected, and purposeful – a kitchen designed to be used, lived in, and enjoyed. With its considered layout and durable finishes, it’s every bit as beautiful as it is practical, offering a true escape from the everyday without sacrificing style.
