Caesarstone’s 502 Sleet Porcelain surface takes centre stage in this beautifully renovated duplex by Studio Bazelet, where durability meets refined design to create a modern, family-friendly kitchen.
Studio Bazelet, which is owned by interior designers Shira Dromi and Anouk Ron, recently transformed a two-floor duplex apartment into a sleek, light-filled space. Home to a couple with three children, they aimed to create a modern and luxe kitchen that could effortlessly accommodate busy family life. Caesarstone’s 502 Sleet porcelain surface quickly became central to the space – blending durability with impeccable design.
"When undertaking the full gut renovation, we figured out pretty quickly that the top floor of the property would be dedicated for work and play, while the bottom floor would function as the living quarters," shares Dromi. The kitchen, which is adjacent to the living room, features a large central island and a wide back countertop – which sparked a debate on the appropriate surface.
Having young children, the design team knew the worktop would need to withstand years of crafting, messy cooking, and homework. The clients required an elegant yet highly resilient material that could be wiped clean at the end of the day, with no stains left behind. Caesarstone’s Porcelain ticked all these boxes, offering a unique Lifetime Warranty that promises the product will stand the test of time, even in the busiest of family homes.
"We searched for a porcelain surface with warm notes and a gentle ambiance," recalls Dromi. "We knew we wanted porcelain due to its properties such as strength, durability, thinness, and stain resistance. Aesthetically, we looked for a surface that would accommodate the family's hosting aspirations and would look great when adorned with fruit baskets and fresh pastries. When we came across Caesarstone’s Sleet, we knew we found exactly what we were looking for."
The kitchen and living room form an airy, open-plan space. Since the kitchen's design influences the overall atmosphere in the apartment's living quarters, it was essential to select every element with careful consideration. The cabinets are painted in a bright white and the space is softened by rustic wood flooring.
The star of the kitchen is undoubtedly the 502 Sleet Porcelain surface, which enhances the warmth that emanates from the flooring. An impressive lighting fixture made of opal glass and black steel sits above the island, illuminating the worktop’s striking veining.
"This was the first time I worked with Caesarstone's Sleet surface," says Dromi. "It is a beautifully neutral surface that suits a variety of design styles, from modern to traditional. We were able to create a pleasant atmosphere that invites you to take your shoes off, sit back, and relax. Sleet plays a huge role in what we created. It offers a luxurious look with its creamy off-white base and gentle brown streaks, and provides a strong and reliable foundation for the kitchen.” There has been a noticeable rise in the popularity of porcelain worktops in recent years, and several factors contribute to this trend. Design is key – the manufacturing process behind porcelain allows for unparalleled flexibility, enabling the creation of bolder designs and more dramatic colours than ever before. At Caesarstone, we pride ourselves on offering a diverse range of porcelain surfaces in an array of striking colours, patterns, and finishes. This versatility empowers designers and homeowners alike to be creative and achieve their desired aesthetic, whether it's sleek and industrial or classic and rustic.
