The kitchen is a great place to start; whether it be a lick of paint or a complete redesign, here are the chicest design trends for 2019… #### **Trough sinks ** Trough sinks create a multipurpose storage space that could either be used to cool your wine, display fruit or whatever else you see fit. Its slim design means it won’t take up too much room on your worktop. A simple yet sophisticated addition to your kitchen – definitely top of our list!   #### **Tall single slab splashbacks ** Tall single slab splashbacks made from a material like [quartz](https://www.caesarstone.co.uk/colours/supernatural/5031-statuario-maximus/) create an aesthetic that is both elegant and simple, as well as stand-out and statement. It’s also much easier to clean compared with traditional tiling; an ideal design feature. ![Kitchen Worktop in 5031 Statuario Maxima](https://blog.caesarstone.co.uk/hs-fs/hubfs/Resized%20Images%20(100KB)/Kitchen%20Worktop%20in%205031%20Statuario%20Maxima.jpg?width=600&name=Kitchen%20Worktop%20in%205031%20Statuario%20Maxima.jpg) 5031 Statuario Maxima #### **Open shelving ** Open shelving has been around for a while, but in 2019 you can expect to see lots more innovative and modern shelving space. Upper cabinets made from copper, wood or glass are popular options and help create a bold statement within a minimalist kitchen design. ![Open shelving](https://blog.caesarstone.co.uk/hs-fs/hubfs/Blog%20Images/clamshell-kitchens-and-more-07.jpg?width=600&name=clamshell-kitchens-and-more-07.jpg)4130 Clamshell #### **Smart kitchen technology ** How about a wifi-enabled coffee machine that can make your morning espresso while you shower? Or a wine fridge that will preserve your favourite bottles at their ideal temperature? Technology in the home is fast-evolving – will this be something you’ll be taking advantage of in 2019? #### **Statement taps and hardware ** With such an extensive range of hardware and cabinetry materials, we’re expecting to see homeowners making their taps and cabinets a stand-out feature with brass, copper and gold finishes. Catch a glimpse of the beautiful brushed gold detailing featured in [@tiledhouse](https://www.instagram.com/tiledhouse/)'s home refurbishment project, also showcasing Statuario Maximus worktops.    For more design inspiration, why not try out our kitchen style quiz?
